The New York-based artist merges anthropology, architecture and performance studies to create works that make invisible ecological impacts visible: ”I have always felt the boundary separating the human and the nonhuman as something extremely tenuous.”

la galleria del cavallino
With Gabriella Cardazzo, former director and daughter of founder of La Galleria del Cavallino, Carlo Cardazzo, and Prof. Giovanni Bianchi, we discuss the history of the famed Venetian art space. Carlo Cardazzo opened Galleria del Cavallino as a space to be more than a gallery—a rebellion. Designed by Carlo Scarpa, this exhibition platform brought together Morandi, Fontana, and Peggy Guggenheim’s protégés. His children transformed it into a hub for experimental art, introducing Italy to Marina Abramović, Nam June Paik, and Warhol’s films!

communicating design
Ellen Lupton didn’t just curate design—she democratized it: ”Art exhibitions are an established genre, dominating the top of the cultural pyramid. Architecture exhibitions tend to be technical and scholarly because architectural history has a deep academic pedigree. Design is a younger field. There is more room for play in design exhibitions. The artifacts are less precious.”
